Mike, the marriage certificate show "According to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church after the Superintendent Registrar by me... Is that mean they were married in a registry office?

Sam, I could not find a marriage for Ann Ramage or Grice and Alexander Bailey. Maybe they might be married before 1837?

Hi Steven

Ann is not necessarily Mary's mother. She could be no relation to MAry at all, she could just be a friend or neighbour. And she needn't be married to Alexander Bailey, it could be a different Ann than the one that married Robert Range.

Can you find a marriage fro an Ann Ramage and Alexander Bailey?

I have a marriage in 1836 in Norfolk where the entry on the church records states "By license with the consent of the mother of Sarah Rumbelow"
I do not have a defininite birth date for this Sarah Rumbelow but she is given as 20 in the 1841 census. Her husband in the 1836 marriage was about 25 at the time of marriage.

I agree with all what Joan as stated….

If you look at your certificate just below the details of persons marring.

It will have the following :~

According to the rites and ceremonies of ………..
By. .......Either Banns or Licence.

If by Licence then further details can be found at the local Records Office
Which the Church came under.
By their “ Marriage Licence Bonds Index card System. “

You search under the surname of the husband.

Details include Names, Occupations, Ages. Parish which they were in at Marriage, and the Church which they are to be married at.
Plus who was the natural Father of either person marring.
Or the person giving their consent to the marriage.

At the bottom of this card are the names of the person who was the securer of the Bond. Again names Occupation of this person is given.

Then if you wish to see the original Bond papers then this is usually found on Micro film But you need the reference No. to this film.
Most Office staff will help you to find this and how to make a photo copy of this should you require one.

I have a copy of my great great great great grandparents, William Waters and Mary Ramage. They both were a minor. It was in Westminster, Middlesex.

I know that William Waters’ father Thomas was a deceased, however this certificate did not tell about decease of fathers. I don’t know what happened to Mary Ramage’s father Robert.

I think a parent of Mary will permission them to get married if they were minors. Where can I find a copy of written permission for their marriage?

They had two witnesses, Alexander and Ann Bailey. Was Ann to be a mother of Mary?

I know that Robert Ramage and Ann Grice were married in 1828 in Northumberland. So Ann might be re-married to Alexander Bailey?

Any suggestions?
