Dean, Lynda and Val,

The late extract arrived early in February with a letter apologizing for the delay - (I didn't add to this thread, which I thought had "died").

Not much new information from the extract,, but it was worth the wait - lovely flourishes on the signature of great grandparent, (happy at the birth of his daughter?).

Ordered on the evening of 22nd January and were waiting when I got in from work this evening! And a nice letter with it, not just a compliment slip. Well done scotlandspeople!!

And YES!!! They are my half brother and sister - now the fun begins - where are they now?

Hope you have now got yours Elizabeth.

Thanks for the "jog" , Val and Lynda, - a fast reply within the hour from Scotland's People, request now "urgent" and a gift of credits as well.

Val

Val Report 28 Jan 2008 21:21

Well you are saving £6 by doing it on scotlandspeople they say 20 days but usually quicker but you will have to be patient lol
But it is good we can get them now through the site as before you couldn't

Lyndi Report 28 Jan 2008 21:00

Val
I can get to the bit where it gives a name, year and place of birth, but the image that is from the register and gives the information I want was not an option for the people I wanted.
I had the credits ready to go!

I have paid my £20 and patiently (but not as patiently as Elizabeth) await my two certificates.

Elizabeth get on to scotlandspeople and ask where your certificates are and Lynda the births, deaths are up to 2006 but you can down load images births 1855 -- 1907, deaths 1855 --- 1957 and marriages 1855 --- 1932 the other dates to 2006 will be on soon but these you have to order which is £10 but if you go to register office to get them it is £13 as I bought 2 that way cost £26.00

Thank you Elizabeth, I am pretty excited. I don't know how you have waited so long. 2nd december is a long time back - maybe you should give them a nudge.

These are the first extracts I have ordered - all previous images were available online, and the information available has been brilliant. My father died when I was 8 and I knew he had a brother who had died, but from scotlandspeople have found he also had three sisters who all died before the age of 5.

It was just that these last two said 'no image available' (I was gutted lol) and I am so keen to find out if these are the births of my half sister and brother that this seemed the quickest way for me to get them.

If they are then the fun really begins! Are they still alive? Did they go to Canada as we seem to remember talk of?

Slow down Lynda! Get your evidence first!!

There has always been a problem with Scotlandspeople. A far easier way to obtain info is to go to Edinburgh yourself. Register House is behind the Bus Station and over the road on Princes Street form Waverley Station. Public transport to both is reliable and abundant. Once inside you can purchase certificates of anything over 100 years old for 50p each. Anything under 100 years old can be viewed and copied but not printed. It is run on the unique DIGROS sysrem which is computerised. If you live overseas ask a GR member if they are prepared to go to Register House for you. Yvonne Dundee

I didnt find out about the indexing of records to 2006 until last night when I used the site to check a marriage, which as it happens was not relavant to my tree, they didnt annouce it on the site ahead of launch.
I think its great, as it means I can finish those lines of the family, which tail off in the early 1900's, all I need now is another two jobs to pay for the certificates, maybe the postage time will come down after the initial rush is over.

Hi Elizabeth
Well, there's patience ........... and there's patience.
Not sure I will be able to be as patient as you, without a little rant at least.
I suppose a lot of people didn't work for two weeks over the holidays, but yours does seem to be taking a while.
Hope it comes soon.

I have ordered two extracts from scotlandspeople and it says allow 20 working days and then extra days in the post!! Has anyone knowledge of whether the delivery times could be shorter than that?
I am sooo impatient - this could be a step nearer to finding my half brother and sister.

Thank you
Lynda

Just wondering now if this is the right board to post this question.. Apologies if its in the wrong place.
