BMD will not show Mother's maiden name in 1904, you will need a cert.

If you know the names of any of Gilbert's younger siblings and if one or more of them was born after 1911 you can see their mother's maiden name from the birth reg listings. That way you might be able to match her name with a Stillman marriage.

However, this will not show you father's first name and if Gilbert's mother had died and his father had married again then Gilbert's mother might be someone completely different.

You need the birth cert.

If you have a copy of Gilbert's marriage cert it should show his father's name and occupation and you might then be able to find him in 1901 census.

No, you would need to buy the birth certificate.

If you bought the marriage certificate that would give you his father's name.

The birth reference:-

Gilbert P. Stillman
March qtr. 1904, Westbury W., 5a, 140.
