I ahave marriages for Matilda, George and Alfred in 45, 53 and 66 respectively.

Just a thought - have you found your family in 1841?

I took a look and could only find one possible which was father John with children Rosanna, Caroline, Matilda and George. Looking on IGI I think there's also a possible older son John for this family. Father John is listed as "fringe manufacturer" a possible alternative to ribbon manufacturer. As for Alfred I could only find one possible in the workhouse.

Is there any chance that John married Harriet between 1841 and 1851? - this would mean that daughter in law Elizabeth could be the wife of John or George from the family on the 1841 census. Alfred could have returned to the family home on the marriage of John and Harriet.

The pub by the way is the Duke of Devonshire.

Hopefully you already have found your family on the 1841 census - otherwise at least something to consider.

William Peters b 1847 Hoxton/Shoreditch London. Father John = Ribbon manufacturer

Mother = Harriet.

1851 with parents and siblings Alfred and Charles.

1861 with parents in Great Cambridge St (siblings away but I know where they are).

1871 No sign of William. I think mother Harriet(1810 Poplar) is in a pub called the Duke of something with married dau in law Elizabeth(28 b Scotland)

Thereafter no sign of William, or Elizabeth. Elizabeth is Not the wife of Alfred nor Charles.

I think Harriet d 1893 in Hampstead - cant find her 1881 or 91

There is another william b about the same time in Hoxton - he can be found in Northampton but his father (marriage cert) is John...carpenter - mine was a factory owner as a ribbon manufacturer. This william married Mary Jane Leeson in Warwickshire
