It DOES work on Vista, although I think Vista is a PAIN!!

I think I needed to download some sort of viewer but it was 'easy peasy' as I am not very good on these things. - '2 minute job' !!

FTM is brilliant - Vista (imho is a pain !!!)

And - I got FTM version 7 -(about 1997 era) to run on Vista except the help function doesn't work - but there was a huge manual that came with it so not a problem.

Donna, its play.com : The WDYTYA version - FTM2006 (if you go through quidco.com you get a bit of cash back - join quidco, you get cash back on hundreds of merchants) Anyway, its £5.99 free postage on play .com including 30 days free ancestry sub - heres the link. As mentioned above, you may need to download a patch for it to work with Vista.

http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=allproducts&searchstring=family+tree&page=search&pa=search

Minimum Requirements
Create trees, charts and reportsall in one pedigree, hourglass, ancestor, descendant timelines, family group sheets and more 30 day free subscription to Ancestory.co.uk UK & Ireland records collection Family tree printouts and video clips of the 10 celebrities featured in the first series of WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

Getting started is easy. Just enter the information you already know and watch your tree take shape. As your research gets going, you can add new relatives to your tree storing other information you've collected along the way; birth dates, birthplaces, marriages and deaths. You can easily add notes, photos, images and documents on each person, to tell his or her story.
The program will automatically search the largest online collection of family history information at Ancestry.co.uk. A Web Search Report allows you to compare the search results side-by-side with The information in your tree, so you can quickly determine whether it's relevant. You can then merge the record directly into your Family Tree file.
Bring your family story to life by designing and customising a wide variety of charts, trees and reports with images, photos, colours fonts and borders. You can even create a family tree albumas a precious keepsake to pass down through the generations.
Once you've completed all the hard work and research, it's time to share your results with family and friends. Produce a professional looking family book, print-out heirloom quality family trees, Publish a family web page, or email your family file to others around the world.

Peter - I think the FTM Donna is using is the free one which has limitations - Donna for £5.99 at play.com you can get the full version plus an ancestry sub I believe - and all the facilities like a homepage on the net etc.

Otherwise I believe PAF free download works with VISTA

FTM should work ok with Vista, although you might need to download a patch.

Have a look at the installation forum, there might be some help there, or you could post a question.
