My ancestor seems to be down twice on the census and just wanted to check whether this was normal? He got married in 1854 to Catherine Hodge, but he's living with her and 2 children as man and wife in the 1851 census, profession engine man. |

You need to check how many Johns there are. |

It's definitely the one with the child Rebecca, although now I'm worried I've got the wrong cert, if there's 2 possibilities. Although when I searched I could only find one marriage with a John Eustice and a Catherine (Hodge) |

The info I have for Catherine is that she was born in Zennor around 1830. |

I've got the wrong certificate. Just checking FreeBMD again with the phonetic button on (I MUST remember to do that!) - there's also a marriage in Redruth in 1846 to a Catherine Thomas. Which would make sense as to why they were down as married in 1851. |

PS_ Catherine Thomas was born 1839 in Zennor according to 1841 census. |

I've found Catherine Thomas with (I'm guessing) a gran, Catherine Thomas in 1841. However in 1851 she's still with the family, whereas She would have been married by then according to the 1846 marriage. |

Have you not got a birth cert for one of the children? |

According to the IGI there are baptisms in Helston for children of John Eustis and Catherine Hodge Anna Maria 1858, Catherine 1859 and a son John born 1856. They are submitted records but they do correspond to the 'other' john and Catherine not the ones with Rebecca. |

Not yet, I've just ordered 7 certs so have to wait till payday. I always try and go through everything else first before ordering certs, but that would have saved me time and money! I will be ordering Rebecca Eustice's cert as that's my ancestor. |
