I have a family member who goes missing in 1901. I think there maybe a chance that he was fighting in the Boer war. Does anybody know anywhere I could find maybe a list of soldiers who went to war? All I can find are roll of honours lists and as he went on to live until 1963, I know he didn’t die! |

Maybe worth putting his name in the national Archives Kew searchbox.......can't remember if medal cards from before 1914 come up,,,or maybe he was in the 14-18 war too? |

Thanks, I will have to try that. He would have been 38 by the time WW1 started, but he did lie on his marriage cert in 1913 to make himself 33 so there is always a possibility. |

Yes, nothing relating to him comes up. His name was David Henry Lewis and he was born in St Albans, Hertfordshire in 1876. |

Unless his health wasn't good he would have served in WW1....many casualties were well in their 40s...my grandfather born 1873 served as a marine until 1920... |

Kevin does offer a service whereby he will look for the army records and if he can't find them there is no fee. That's how I initially found my ggrandfather's records many moons ago |
