Hi Malcolm, thanks for pointing that out, I will now look and see if the other Sinclair could be Peter's father. |

Hi, Jan, do you know if only James was born in the USA, I thought the 2 children after him were born in Orkney. |

The IGI has a Margaret Jane SINCLAIR born 15/7/1866, Stromness to Peter SINCLAIR and Margaret GRAY. On re-examining the immigration image it could well be "Marg. Jane" not "Mary Jean"; the age of 5 also fits the birth date. Also IGI gives William's birth as 1/10/1859 which fits the age of 14. |

Sandra, this might be them though the ages are out by about 5 years (though people did lie about their ages as you know). They are aboard the Europa from Glasgow to New York arrival 10th of June 1872. |

Thanks Jan, that is them, I have them on the 1871 and 1881 census, but their son born in 1874 called James was born in Brooklyn New York, they then have a child in Orkney in 1878, so they didnt stay long in the USA, it would be nice just to know where they left from and where the arrived. |
