Help reading an occupation on 1891 census

Try as I might I just cannot work out the occupation of Stephen Upton on the 1891 census. If anyone has Ancestry access and a spare moment, could they please cast their eyes over RG12/498 schedule item 483 and see if they can work out what Stephen's occupation is.

Incidentally, the birth place was mistranscriped as Brighton in Jersey (Sussex does look a bit like Jersey in that script!).

Thanks in advance,
Tracey

I believe it's Fireman (Loco). The first ( attaches itself to the word fireman causing the confusion.

Hi Reg,

What is the reference for the 1901 census entry? I'd been having difficulty finding it on Ancestry.

Thanks,
Tracey
