can somebody give me some help or advice please.
i have ftm 05 and love it . i keep all my tree on it and because i have been doing family trees for my in laws it has grown into a great big tree around 2000 names.
i know i can make smaller trees and i have but i still like to add them to the main tree because i had always hoped that one day i would get it printed and my sisters and brothers could have copies and it would have their partners ancestors on as well.

so finally i have found someone to print my tree for me at a very reasonable price. i have forwarded my tree by means of a gedcom file and she has received it and has started work on it.
because it is so large you cant view all the tree at once when you view it through " all in one tree " you obviously have to scroll through it.
i have the settings set at display 99 generations so all 14 generations are displayed
i have a couple of questions

i have a brother and he is married they have no children but i have put his wifes ancestors on the tree going back about 5 generations yet when i look on the "all in one tree" it has my brother but no wife or her family and if i view the "all in one tree"through his wifes name it has her and her family but not my brother.
on the family view the info about them is entered correct ie name dob and marriage so why are they not displayed as man and wife in the all in one tree ?

also who do i start the all in tree with ? at which ancestor or do i just start at me will it give details of everyone in my tree whether related to me or not ?

sorry if i am rambling on but any help would be great

if i dont get back to you right away i might have gone to bed early start tomorrow for work

thanks linda

My understanding is that an All-in-One Tree should display every individual that is connected to the person that is selected as the start point. I have just checked with my own tree and my brother's wife certainly appears on the report, so I am not sure why it does not work for you.

Unconnected persons or unlinked trees (i.e. to the person who is selected as the start point) are not shown unless you tick the appropriate box on the options drop down.

However, I am a little bemused why you would want to print an All-in-One Tree for 2000 persons. It is not an option I would choose for a tree of this size..

If you wish to share with friends and family, surely it is far better to print smaller trees using the Ancestor / Pedigree or Descendant options, which are customised to suit the individuals concerned? I find that anything more than about 6 - 10 pages is too much, and most people quickly loose interest. My own Ancestor tree is approx 8 pages for 10 generations, whereas an All-in-One Tree runs to well over 500 pages.

thanks for your reply. the person who is printing my tree for me is not doing it on standard A4 paper but it is a commecial printer and will be ??? feet long by ??? however big it takes. the people on the tree who are not related to are related to my inlaws and all my in laws are like family to us. we have been very lucky .
i can understand why they may not be in all in one tree but why my sister in law isnt on is a mystery .
thanks everyone
