Ages on death certificates are even worse - they are only as accurate as the person registering the death and if it was the next door neighbour (it has been known) then it could be way out. |

Yes for 1881. No for 1901, he would only have been 40. |

Hi Cath, census ages are notorious for being incorrect, people thought they were one age and said that when asked, so yes could be quite possibly 20 on 81 and 41 on 1901. |

They could also have been anything from about 18-22 on the 1881 and 39-42 on the 1901! |
