Thats a good idea Denise, like they have on email accounts. Would be good if that was available on GR so when you get a PM from a contact, you could sort them into family/friends files. I have a long list that l am going to print off and get in order so l do not keep on asking the same questions.

As this is not available yet, l will use your idea Jim.

To sort your useful threads from the rest use "bookmark this" and "my bookmarks".

I wanted to tidy my threads for ease of finding the "useful" ones.

We could do with folders to sort them into. Perhaps Genes can incorporate one ...... soon!!

They say one man rubbish is anothers treasure. What about Ebay? anyone ever used that? My daughter has had things from there but never seem to sell things. My friends husband has bought a suit of armour .... that was a bit of a surprise when l went into the garage

And my dining room's still a pigsty. Now why is that??

Ha, I'm the opposite. I'm the kid -- and every time a grandparent or parent died, or the other parent moves or goes on a lose-it binge of her own, or a friend or tenant moves out of my house or apartment ... I got/get the stuff.

I'm going to be the one who dies leaving a houseful of old stuff that nobody has any clue what or whose it is or where or whom it came from. ;)

Want my mother's downhill skis from the 1940s? My friend's cross-country skis from the 1980s? The family waterskis from the 1960s?

Here's an idea, though: if we were to swap the useless spare tables, beds and armchairs, we'd probably both find it much easier to get rid of what we ended up with!

We are now children free but they still have stuff with us... motorbike in bits, welding gear, blacksmithing tools. I will wrap them for christmas l think :)

I mentioned to someone else who was thinking of throwing a tidying fit the other day that if he was desperate for something to tidy, he could make a start on my dining room. ;)

I'm working on that use it or lose it frame of mind myself ... need any lamps?

Kathryn I do agree the thread should stay. I am usually a hoarder but l think the deleting mode comes from just moving house and 'downsizing' I have got into the fame of mind of haven't used it for a while loose it. As you say people have put a lot into the threads but l didnt want to delete them from the boards totally only from my own thread list

I'm with Mary -- why are people so eager to delete old threads?

The search function for these boards is virtually useless, and I get the feeling few people use it. But still, someday, some distant cousin may do a search for Ebenezer Heffalump, and find your threads all about him being your uncle's wife's grandfather!

Keep in mind that a bunch of other people probably put a bunch of work into the threads you started, and it might not be quite fair to delete all their efforts from cyberspace too.

Thanks Mary, think that you may have cracked it. What l was trying to do was only have the 'active' threads showing on my threads list but if l can only delete the ones l created then my list will have to get longer

Why do you want to delete them? The information in them might be useful to somebody else.

Anyway, you can only delete your own threads, not other people's.

Underneath the guy in the hat - click on My Threads, That will bring up any thread you have posted to. To delete your old threads, find the thread, click on it and then click delete

Your not thick, just blind, only joking. Yes thats the right bit if you go into it it will bring up your threads that you have done and you have to go in each thread and delete them.

To the left of the screen there is a bit that says my threads, go in to that and delete that way.

Help please....I am new to this Posting business and wondered if there is any way of deleating the Old threads that I have contributed to that now have gone dead???
