Yes Jim that really did say Christmas Cole on the 1881 census. He was born on, you guest it....... christmas day. Original eh? lol.

I am so sorry for not coming back to you before now but this really is the first chance I've had. Thank you both so much for the work you've done so far.

Right! back to it. Yes Jim, George Albert really did marry Elizabeth Cole. She was his first cousin. Both George and Elizabeths' families moved to North Yorkshire and as you can see Elizabeth appears with her parents on the 1891 census but there's no sign of George Albert. On their marriage certificate from 1893 his address is just given as Boosbeck. The couple then settled in Skelton. It's a mystery to me where he was when the 1881 and 1891 censuses were taken though.Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi Selena, thanks for your interest. I'm not sure is the honest answer. I know Blything is not the union workhouse local to where the family lived but he may have been there for some other reason. I certainly can't discount it and it gives me somewhere else to look.

I am trying to trace the whereabouts of my great-grandfather after 1871. His name is George Albert COLE born July 1868 in Mattishall Burgh, Norfolk to parents George and Jemima COLE. He appears on the 1871 census living with his parents in Norfolk as expected but is not with them on either the 1881 or 1891 censuses. He appears again on the 1901 living in North Yorkshire with his wife Elizabeth who he married in 1893 and four children. Can anyone suggest where I might look next please as I am at a loss where to go from here.
