Like many of mine, they were inconsiderate to die just before 1851.

You're right of course, they could have married anywhere.....just hoping that they met in London, as so little else to go on. All Jane's family seem to have ended up in the same area,
Hard isn't it,pre 1837, without somewhere to guess!
I can't even pin down Jeremiah's birth!

I see according to the 1841 census, that Jeremiah and jane were not born in Middlesex, so chances are they didn't marry there, not set in stone though.

You're right, bascat, Jane was indeed from Devon.
She at least lived into the era of useful censuses!
What I meant earlier was -they're not too common to the area of London where they lived,

Thanks bascat,

I'll compare with what I've got.
Hope its not - got so little to go on for Jeremiah, the marriage would be excellent help!

Couldn't find your marriage, but Larcombe seems to be a common name to Devon.

Could be these two on Boyds index.

1824 / NEWELL ELZ /MORDEN WM /WESTMINSTER (ST GEORGE HANOVER SQUARE) / MIDDLESEX

1824 / LARCOMB AN/ LINCH JAS / WESTMINSTER (ST GEORGE HANOVER SQUARE) / MIDDLESEX

Aha! since you ask....

I have in my tree Jeremiah Newell and Jane Larcombe. From census they're both born about 1802. Jeremiah dead by 1851 census so v. little to go on for him. I've lots on Jane.

Their eldest son born Westminster about 1828.

Putting either of their names into Pallots comes up with 2 listings JUST SURNAMES, no spouse listed for 1824, St Georges, Hanover Square.

Everyone else seems to have a spouse listed.
Seems supicious to me that the 2 -not so common names- match my timeframe and place so well....

Thoughts?

Hi all,
Last week I was in a thread about Westminster archives.
It has disappeared from "my threads" / the board????

Anyway, the outcome of my request to them wasn't successful.
Although I can see the marriage I want on Pallots via Ancestry, they say they can't see the record. They returned my cheque. They suggest I go up to London and look for myself............

Any ideas as to what to do next?
