FreeBMD is exactly as its called FREE ,It has Births Marriages and Death GRO Refs. altho its still work in progress transcribing the indexes. |

Like David, I get my Ancestry subscription paid for me for Christmas. Hubby finds it much easier to buy it for me than tramp round the shops looking for something that I would probably take back. |

Family history *is* an expensive business unless you are very lucky to find someone who has done the work for you. I rejoined GR three weeks ago and have already met two people who have gone along completely the wrong path by assuming that information is correct and complete on the free, volunteer run sites. Don't get me wrong, the free sites do a great job but at the moment they only give you clues where to make further research. |
