Hi Carol. You might try the N.A.A ( National Archives of Australia ) It lists passengers for the 1960s Shipping and Plane transport to Oz.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF AUSTRALIA ( N.A.A )
Search now... as a guest.List Immigrants coming in after 1900.
Type in Surname and or given name. Keywords (or name)
eg:( Mary Smith )

Hi Tony , If the name does not appear in the archives is there any where else to look.
I believe my grandad came over in the 1950's . He returned to uk on holiday around 1964 and died a year later in Australia. ( Due to peoples kindness on here I know where he was buried and have photos of his burial site). I know nothing of his life here . Unfortunately he was based in Adelaide and I know there records are not on line.

Hi Patricia.

Not a lot on line for the 50s apart from the N.A.A
It also depends wether he flew to Oz or came by passenger ship by this era. Also a lot depends on what Port or State he sailed/flew into, as they all vary state to state.

Q.L.D shipping records ( online ) only show up to 1912

N.S.W up late 1890s

Victoria up to 1923

Ancestors on board only show up to 1939 at the moment.

Blaxland site has a few Shipping passengers 1900s upwards....but they are scarce and scattered.

I dont know if you have his Death cert.here in Oz, but this should give some indication as to how long he was in Australia, and might narrow down your search a little.

The only other method i know, and how i found my own grandfather's ship of arrival here in 1915 was through his "Old age Pension form"....as it listed his details of Arrival to Oz.
Name of Ship: Where he sailed from: Port of disembarkation. Year day and month, ect.

Sorry, but not much else i can suggest.

Tony
