have just recieved a certificate and says born Benton Avenue,Hope Street Grimsby but cannot find address anywhere.I have a recent map of Grimsby and one of 1901 but cannot find Benton Avenue.Any help appreciated.

Hello Annie, there certainly WAS a Benton Avenue off Hope Street Grimsby,
I remember it well I lived in Hope Street,
It was a very small place no through road just a big brick wall at the end,
Over the wall was a huge building The Ice House,which is still there but no longer an ice house, it is in Victor Street, so on you map you will know it was "at the back" of Victor Street
Benton Avenue was pulled down long ago along with most of Hope Street.

Do you know Grimsby at all??

Yes I visit regular.My parents lived and were born there.I was born there but left aged 5.
My mum will probably recollect from any description given.I'm looking for info on a Florence Joyce who married Colin Denver.

Hi Annie I have looked in the marriages for Grimsby and the only one I can find was Florence Mable who married a Lockwood in 1943.
If I can look any Grimsby marriages up for you please let me know
