Hi, I'm new to this and would really appreciate any advice or views from any members who have been in this situation before. I have just started to research my family tree, knowing that it would be difficult as my maternal grandmother was adopted and had four (yes four!) children out of wedlock by 3 different fathers. I have never met my own father, but have found his birth records. Recently I found his daughter (my half sister) on this site. I am absolutely 100% sure it is her as she has a very unusual birthplace. I have sent her a message asking her to contact me and also posted details on the trying to find forum in the hope that she would reply but I have heard nothing. Obviously I didn't mention any details, as she may not know about me but it is killing me to know that she is so close yet so far. I'm desparate for advice - should I try contacting her again or are there any other ways I could try? |

I had something similar where I purchased a death certificate of my grandma's brother. The informant was his daughter who I knew nothing about. She is my father's cousin but inknown to the family. |

Thanks very much for your thoughts and suggestions - it's a very tricky situation. I know if I received an email out of the blue from somebody my curiosity would get the better of me and I'd just have to reply! Hopefully she will do the same! |
