thanks lorraine, io work in a lirary so will have a look on our catalogue, so far all i have found there is a history of chipstead which only really goes up to 1850's.

Fred also worked part time in the cricket ground probably around chipstead (don't know if there is one there) in the 1930's. and i know his father was a keen footballer so perhaps he may have played with a local team.

thank you soo much. his name was was Frederick Fagan but he was born in 1900 so probably left in about 1914. he had a brother named Albert CV Fagan who may also have gone there who was 3 years younger. thank you soo much for replying!

Hi Leanne,
What was his name?
I went to Chipstead School-now converted into smart "apartments" in the 1930s.
My father went there from about 1915 when the family moved from Berkshire.
I have an Aunt born in 1911 who went there too and is still with us!
I knew Netherne quite well too as a lot of the local people worked there
It closed in the 1980s and is also now converted and known as Netherne Village.

Hi all

Hope you’re all having a nice evening, just a quick q. 

I recently found an address book of my great grandfather’s which gives dates and places for where he worked.

It says chipstead c school 1914 but when I search on google, nothing comes up. Wondered if any of you might know about chipstead then and between the wars. He also worked at netherne asylum 1918 and cane hill 1924-1926 and worked part time at a cricket ground between 1930 and 32. however it doesn’t say which one. Must have been in/around merstham/chipstead.

Any ideas or tips to find out more about this would be really appreciated. Thanks for your time, have a nice night.
