help finding a death please

Hi i wonder if anyone could give me a hand finding a death.
it is for a JOHN NUGENT born 1862 not sure where but could be leigh lancashire.
he married a jane aspinall formerly ainscough in1885 in leigh lancashire.
they had 2 children mary jane and edward. edward was born 1889 in the workhouse in atherton leigh lancashire it states his father is john nugent doesnt say deceased.
on the 1891 census the family are living in pepper alley leigh lancashire but no john nugent it doesnt say jane is a widow but could be a mistake ??
jane puts her children into the workhouse in 1901 and marries a thomas lamb and on her marriage cert it says she was a widow
so i cant say for sure when john died but perhaps somewhere between 1889 and 1901. he would have been between 27 and 39 years old.
anyone got any ideas
