Jan Jan, it is spelt DOIRAN which was in Macedonia, April to November 1916.
I have some info about the action naming different regiments etc, what is it you wish to know ?

Many thanks for the replies.

My grandad's brother fought at the Battle and wanted to name his daughter Doiran.

His grandson is trying to gain more information but all we had to go by was the fact that he fought at Doiran Hill.

He was the bugler and would play the advance and retreats.

Any other info would be much appreciated Poirot

Regards

Jan

Thank you for the description.
It really brings home the terrible conditions they fought under and why they never forgot it.

Many thanks

Jan Jan, Jolly Sailor has said it all really, "well done" it covers all the info I have from some old soldiers who served there, re telling their experiences.
I also have a few old photographs.
