I've got an ancestor who was shot down during WW1 and died.
I have his Service Number and camp.

Is there anywhere on line where I can search for the medals that he was awarded?

yes the national archives... www.nationalarchives.gov.uk.

Select documents online from the "search the archives" in the top bar, and then on the right hand side, select WW1 campaign medals.

was he RAF or (RFC) Royal Flying Corps? The RAF formed in April 1918.

If he died before April 1918 his records are Army.

Many apologies, I've just double checked the dates and he was shot down in a Lancaster bombing mission in WW2.

Senior moment I'm afraid !
