Advice on finding a birth

I wonder if anyone can give me some tips on how to find a birth /christening for an ancestor of mine born before 1800.
I have found a couple of his siblings on the IGI at St Annes Soho London. If I can't find him should I presume that he was not born in that area? Is the IGI complete in specific parishes or is it possible he was just missed? His parents were both born in Ireland, I'm really hoping I dont have to look there.

The IGI is by no means complete in any parish. If his siblings are both baptised there and you think he could have been too, you should check the parish records.

If you can't get to the Records Office, you may be able to order the film from the LDS to view at your local Family History Centre.

Found this website -

It says parish records are held by Westminster Council, might be a place to start?

Best of luck

Thank you both so much for your prompt replies.
I shall certainly exhaust the London records before thinking about searching in Ireland.
