I've gone to 'My Family Tree' and then 'Full Tree' but then I'm told that I need Macromedia 8.0 and that I only have Macromedia 7.9?!

I do parts of my tree separately (I use Genopro as my tree programme).

I much prefer doing it in family groups and then putting a copy with each file for each main name. Some of those groups are 32 pages of A4

There is no way I could print out my actual family tree as it entwines and links in such complicated ways and contains so many people. My GR tree is only a small part of it. I have just printed off my very basic ancestor list (one person per line as per ahnentafel system) and that runs to 26 pages of A4. Those are just direct ancestors with no siblings or cousins etc. Even that is very simplified as I've not included the many times I keep going back to the same ancestors.

If you go to the print option it shows you all of your tree and how many pages it will take to print, you can print 1,2, 3........199!!!
Good Luck, I tried mine via a pdf and a plotter at work and that still took 2 x AO sheets and it was with a small font size

Margaret

If you go into your tree on Genes and ask it to show full tree, you can then press print and it will allow you to scale it to the least or the most amount of pages.

It would be better printed out on a family tree programme though if you have one like family tree maker. A lot easier and more options.

Go to "My Family Tree"

Then across the top select "Full Tree"

Eventually on the left appears some arrows and the word print - click on print - then a Print Menu box appears.

You have to trim the printouts to fit together before sticking them with tape.

May I ask, assuming that you have a printer and paper capable of printing a whole tree (mine's only got a few hundred) how do you do it? GR doesn't show the whole of my tree, only segments.

Interested in your "project" but couldn't e-mail you because your address is too long.

Our real motive for printing it was to present it to our three" totally disinterested in family history" children,so if we put it on the smallest room door they will have no choice but to look at it!!!! There is a motive in our madness!!!!

Why?

Are you proposing to put it on a Bill Board?

Ron Report 1 Nov 2007 17:26

We printed ours on A4 pages Brenda about 7 years ago, I remember it well, our tree then was 32 A4 sheets, the tape went all yellow after a few months and that's when I decided to start a business out of printing peoples family trees for them.

I don't know if I did the right thing, we worked at it part time for a couple of years, it's now a full time business and we are now working 12 hours a day.

My husband and I printed our family tree off GR last Sunday as we were bored. It measured 4 x 6 sheets of A4!!!!! When trimmed and selotaped together its the same size as our house doors. We are thinking of putting it on the smallest room door!!!!!

Take a look at his website. Ron will give you a quote and then you can decide whether you want it printed or not.

With great difficulty! I'm serious, to print a complete tree with that many people in will be a nightmare, it will take loads of pages or be so small you can't read it.

Even with Family Tree Maker or a similar programme, it covers many sheets of A4.

If you really want the whole thing printing, you are better getting it done professionally, they have special wide paper and get it all on one sheet!
