Yes, I could murder my great grandparents. The fact that they died in the late 1800s is besides the point. |

Parish Registers might be the answer...if you know where the marriage might have taken place. |

She was born in Bromley, so it could have been any one of the parishes round about. |

Is this Amelia mistranscribed: |

Are you sure Amelia's maiden name was Jennings? Are you assuming that the Elizabeth Jennings on the 1861 is her mother? She could be James's - same POB |

I always assumed my Great Grandparents were married but could never find an entry for them. |

I have been assuming that she was born in Bromley, Kent, but the records show Bromley St Leonard, Middlesex, which appears to be Bromley by Bow, East London, so Poplar is in the right areas |

Sorry, can't find a marriage - have been looking for James rather than Amelia just in case Elizabeth Jennings is his mother - 1861 has her as Mother, 1871 Mother-in-Law. Do you have any of the children's birth certs to confirm Amelia's maiden name? |

Clutching at straws here - Amelia Jennings born Marylebone, Middlesex, with mother Elizabeth living in Harborn, Staffs. A James Hadley also living in Harborn. Elizabeth and James both glass workers. Amelia's James in 1881 is a furnace man. |
