The only information I have on my Grandfather is his Fathers name. If I send for a couple of birth certs and ask for them to be checked, will I be charged for the incorrect ones? If so, is there another way round it?

I think you've helped me before
1905, well he was 22 when he married in Dec 1926 and the nearest I can find are 3 in 1905

Depending on the time of year he was born, 1905 could be right.

As you have his fathers name from marriage certificate, your cheapest way is to send for certificates from the local register office.
They will only charge you if they issue a certificate, but if the fathers name does not match, they will return you payment.

When sending to register office, dont forget to include a stamped addressed envelope
