Reg, yes I have her Marriage Certificate (at least I think it's hers). Married 1844 - Croxton, Cambs.

It's complicated - if you're still interested, you may want to look at my other Thread 'Have you ever started again'.

I note that on later censuses, her birthplace is given as Croxton!

Have you traced her marriage?

Back to 'square one' - can't be certain of her name or even where she was born.

I looked at the image........I think it reads Olney......cross-check the capital 'A' on the name Anne.......there is a little 'tail' on the 'A' which does not occur on the place name..........

Reg, I've checked the 'original' and it looks like Alney, Bucks., to me.

See what you think - 1851, Croxton, Cambs. Julia Anne Sewell.

Alney or Olney, Bucks., either way it's odd - she was Baptised in Cambridgeshire?

Have you checked the census image? Or relied only on the transcription?

Amanda, I googled Alney and got 'did you mean Olney'.

Can't find Alney, Bucks., on any map.

Where is it near to?

Hi there just googles it and apparently there is an ALNEY in Buckinghamshire!

Are they the same place?

I have a relative born in Alney, Bucks., (according to Census).

Can't find Alney on any map.
