It could be a religious thing, but not necessarily. My grandmother died in 1931. She died 4th June and was buried 6th June. I know that's two days, but I still thought it was a bit quick. There was no obvious reason for the burial being so quick. |

The Jewish faith I believe bury their dead before their sabbath, which is a Saturday. |

Thanks Joan and Lynda it does seem to lead to the idea that maybe he was Jewish. That could be why they didn't marry in UK if at all . |

Hi Gerri. No he went with her son first she followed a few month later. We don't know how long they were together before but pretty sure he wasn't her sons father. Though no idea yet who was. |

In England burials usually happened 5-10 days after the death - we could get away with that in this climate. But my research has shown that countries like Australia and USA have a quicker burial - usually 1-3 days. |

Yes, Susan, I was going to say if it was summer the quicker the better if you want to save on the cost of embalming or refrigerating or whatever until you decide to bury them. Otherwise they could be a bit high. |
