Can anyone help please, I'm searching for John Arnold born 1826 in Shoreditch. I have him from birth up until 1861 Census with his family, wife Mary, children Samuel, John and Mary. I can't find a death or anything of him after this. |

Sorry to take so long to answer Shirley, I've only just managed to get on here. I can't find my John on 1871 or any of his family, the one you found I think is the generation before. The death you found, I sent for that cert. and it was the wrong one, I have also bought another one 4thqtr. 1862 Vol 1c Page 159 which was also the wrong one. Any other ideas please??? |

So, working backwards - who are you following in this family? - so we know someone actually lived beyond 1861? |

John, his wife Mary (nee Best) and three children are on 1861 Census but they have all vanished by 1871. Didn't give it a thought that she could have remarried had he died but then surely the 3 children would still be traceable under the name ARNOLD??? |

I haven't checked for a second marriage for Mary Arnold. Both Arnold and Mary are such common names I think this one's going to take a long time. |

The children were Samuel 1851, John 1855 and Mary 1857 all born in Bishopsgate. I don't think they all died as I have a marriage for John to Elizabeth Harvey and they had 3 children, John 1892, Harry 1895 and Lily 1896 all born in Bethnal Green. |

The National Archives 1901, are the first numbers the age of the person, if so they are all too young. |
