Hi,

Re: Ancestry.co.uk

I've just received an email from Ancestry requesting that I complete their questionaire. I've mentioned the misalignment of type etc, when using a Mac, so let's see if they're a little more responsive than this site, eh?

Incidently, there's a section asking about GenesReunited!!! 'Nuff said. Fill it in ...please!

I also have problems with Ancestry on Mac. I can access all parts OK but the layout for individuals is a bit haphazard. Events are not laid out neatly one under the other as on the PC. Otherwise the Mac is great.

Hi again Jo,

I've just downloaded a 10-day trial version of 'iFamily for Tiger' which looks to be an excellent buy at around £15.

Hope you enjoy your Mac, you'll wonder why you ever bothered with a PC! ;-)

But then, you may have to keep the PC if you're staying with GR -'cos most of GR won't work on a Mac!!

As I understand it the reporting and charting is very good but it does not deal with LDS records very well

Jo

I use Reunion and am happy with it but I can't compare as I know nothing about Heredis.

Thanks that seems like sound advice. Currently I am leaning towards Reunion, it may be more expensive but I have read no other negatives and it does have the longer standing reputation.

Hi Jo,

Why not try the free demo versions before buying?

I have Heredis myself and I'm happy with it, but you may feel differently. There are links to Mac genealogy software on this site, including shareware:-

I look forward to reading replies to this thread Jo.
I'm in the complicated situation of running a PC plus Mac iBook. At present I use FTM on the PC although I use the iBook for all other research. I was shocked at the fantastically high price for Reunion - £75. Is Heredis as expensive?

Later this month I will be boxing up my PC and moving to a MAC. Can anyone tell me which is the better of the 2 softwares, I keep being swayed in differnent directions.

All help is most welcome.
