when you come across a place name related to your area of research, visit genuki, enter that place-name
and you will be able to view the villages etc, which
were/are within a particular parish in the time-frame
of your research.

have an atlas of britain at hand and look up the cited places of bmd events and consider your findings in conjunction with the above first tip.
