I'm helping someone look for a 'Warren' birth around 1944.Christian name unknown.

The child was adopted. (Male)

I have found two births reg twice! ..I think.

1945 Q4 James Warren. MMN Warren. Northampton 3b-64.
Then at the bottom of the page,hand written, it says....
James Warren. MMN Warren Northampton 3b-D53.

Do you think this is the same child?

The other one is.....
1943 Q1 LLyellyn O Warren MMN Warren Brixworth 3b-177. then again is says the same but with 35-D53.

Same child? Could this be a sign of child adopted?

In both the original registrations the bit at the bottom has a squiggle above the D53. That squiggle reads 'See'
- it means to look at D53 (= December quarter 1953).
If you check D53 you will find both re-registered.

Usually the reason for a re-reg is when the mother marries the (previously unnamed) father or the new husband adopts the previous children. In this case who knows.... as the surname has not changed

No problems Gerri. I may have answered part of the question but the biggest question is what happened and why. The certs may provide part of the answer.

Hi Gerri - we've been in contact before - how are you.

I have experienced the same problems. Seemingly one answer may be -

Woman has child[ren] out of wedlock - children take her maiden name. At a later date, the father marries the mother and states himself to be the child[ren] natural biological father. Child[ren] are RE-REGISTERED under new surname.

The second scenario is similar but goes like this -

Mother has chil[ren] out f wedlcok or in wedlock.
There fore children are either under her maiden name or father's surname. Fathr dies or they are divorced - either way Mother takes a new partner and new partner legally adopts the chil[ren] and they are REREGISTERED under new surname.

[I knew someone who emigrated to Australia with new second husband and her children. He had to adopt them legally before they were allowed to enter Australia - perhaps another reason for RE REGISTERING.

I think I am correct - anyone who has any further or different information please help me out as well.
