Found me!

Did what Stuart suggested and trolled the pages - and as he said, my page had additional writing on the bottom of it.

Phew - am glad that's sorted. Was beginning to think I didnt exist or was adopted or something. lol

Thanks again to everyone.

ooooh - this is getting confusing, got 2 Susans on here now. lol

Thanks for all the responses!

I did find my older sister's registration - and I even check under my mother's maiden name, just in case.

I guess I will have to do what Stuart suggests - cos it's bugging me now! lol

I was searching for Whittingham births in a particular year, but the ancestry complete index only brought up three quarters. So I searched on a name a near to it but before (like White) and just kept using the next page arrow until I got to the right page.

I don't know why the ancestry index did not call up the missing quarter !!

Susan

If you were born say Nov Dec 2006. Your parents had 6 weeks to reg your birth. So your reg will be in the following year 1st quarter2007.

See?

Good luck and your DEF there! lol have fun

Hi Susan,

This is really puzzling - you and your brother should both be on there !!!

If you feel comfortable to send me the details by pm I would be more than happy to have a search for you .

You may have to look at the COMPLETE Index to bmds.

freebmd is only up to about 1920 (12925 in some cases), and ancestry takes its 1837 - 1983 bmds from freebmd so are always a little behind.

Then you have 1983 - ca 2005 or 2006.

The bits in between .......... are found on the Complete Index. Which you search quarter by quarter year by year.

Susan,

Sorry to be cheeky, but have you searched under your mother's maiden name?

I have just searched on Ancestrys BMD and found my birth in 1940, but was puzzled that I could not find my sister's birth in the 2nd qtr of 1945 until I put up the whole of 1945 and discovered that the 2nd qtr is missing.

Susan, were you born at the end of 1948, if so you may be on the 1st quarter of 1949.

Find my own birth registration? I thought the BMDs were complete but I cant find myself in 1948!

(OK - I was bored and that's why I looked. lol)

Mind you - I could be having a senior moment I guess. lol
