List of Emigrants from Calais who have been accepted for the Harpley to sail on 1st May 1848 for South Australia and The Fairlie departed from Plymouth on 30 April 1848 and arrived at Sydney on 7 August 1848.

Hope this helps.

Don't you have any Christian names or ages?

Lots of Sansoms in NSW, mostly in the Raymond Terrace area.

Thanks for that Helen, I am mostly interested in the Stubbs, but I really do not know where to begin. I also have Sansom and Harrisons they all came over in 1848 . What else do you need to know?

Extremely grateful as I as not having a lot of luck myself,

Hi Libby

You can search the NSW births death marriages indexes on line, there are also records of migrants arriving at State Records - indexes online.

BUT I just googled "lacemakers Australia calais" and got a lot of hits, even a website of that name

Happy Hunting

Evening All,

I have recently found out that my great x4 grandfathers siblings and their families were part of the Nottingham Lacemakers (Calais Lacemakers) whom emmigrated to Australia in 1848. I am intrigued to find out what became of them.. Any ideas of how to go about this?

Thanks Libby
