Genealogy Chat

I know that my grand-parents were both one of 12 or 13 children but I only know of seven of my grandfather's siblings and five of my grandmother's. I have no one else to ask as my father is the only descendent left that we know about. Is there a clever way of finding out the names of the other children? Or do I have to just trawl through the BMD ordering up certificates until I hit on one? I don't know whether the siblings died at birth or lived into childhood. Fortunately the ones I know about didn't move far - all seem to have been born in Chelsea, Fulham or Wandsworth. Any suggestions welcome.

What years are you talking

1883 is the earliest child I know of and 1914 the latest.
With my grandmother's family three children born between 1895 and 1901 then the next ones I know of were in 1908, 1912 and 1914 so I am guessing that there were children born in that gap of seven years.

Similarly with my grandfather's family, four children born between 1883 and 1890, then the next one we know of was 1899 followed in quick succession by four children born 1899 to 1905

Yes, done 1901 census and that was where I picked up one name that we did not know. I've got lots of names of children born between those dates for the surnames I'm looking for - I was just hoping to narrow it down a bit more quickly. Ah well!

And on my grandmother's side, LANGDON, we know:

Q1 1897 Harriet Jessie Chelsea
Q2 1901 Joseph Fulham

Q3 1912 Sidney T Wandsworth
Q4 1914 Minnie Margaret Wandsworth

I see what you mean, because they were born before 1912, the only way is to order every certificate.

The Langdon's you'll have problems with as there is another family Registering inWandsworth

Just checked the 1901 census for Rhodes and there is no children between Frank and George, it is a big gap and maybe she lost some ( sorry that sounds awful)
