Do you know if I can get a copy of the actual Deeds from the Land Registry...or will they just have information needed for the registration of a property?

Many moons ago,I saw the Deeds to my parents' bungalow and would like a copy of those actual papers, if possible.
When Mum died last year her home had to be registered when we sold it, as she had lived there almost 70 years. The actual Deeds are now with the buyer's solicitor.

The Land Registry would probably only hold the papers necessary for the registration. Deeds tend to end up with the owners - or their solicitors.

You could write to the people now living in your parents' bungalow and ask if you could see / have a copy of any papers.

Thank you for replying Jill.
I think that may be the best way forward.

I'm a bit cross really that the papers weren't copied before they were sent away. Before the bungalow was put on the market I asked the solicitor dealing with the sale if it was possible to have a copy as there was interesting information about the land before it was built on in 1935.
I was told they could copy them.....but it didn't happen.

I will speak to the new owner, I think.

Give me a clue Gwyn - whereabouts in S E Kent?

I live in a "popular" little town and I can see the Isle of Sheppey from the beach. Also get wonderful sunsets!
