can someone suggest why a family appearing on the 1901 census does not appear on the 1891,1881 or 1871 census. these are people born in england of various ages who must have lived somewhere these other census years!!!!! would be grateful for any suggestions. Ann of Oz

I'm having the same problem!

I have a William Staples who was born in 1830 in Leicestershire.
He married Ann Draper.
His Father was John Staples.

I have him on the 1861, 1871, 1881, and 1891 census, but can't find him on the 1841 and 1851 census.

What am I doing wrong?
