Familytree maker can be bought for a tenner at twr computing including 14 days free ancestry sub. Im not sure if the two free progs above can be saved to cd like familytreemaker? |

You can download Legacy for free. the free version is perfectly adequate for most needs. I have written a help file which tells you step by step in really simple terms how to download it, how to import a gedcom and all the basic things you need to use it. If you decide to use Legacy, I am most willing to send you the help. |

You can download Personal Ancestral File (PAF) free from www.familysearch.com It will be perfectly adequate for a while at least. Then look out for family history magazines having trial versions of other programs that you can play with or Google for demo versions. They all have similar functions but work slightly differently from one another so it pays to see which one you are most comfortable with. The tree you build on PAF can be loaded onto other programs as Gedcom once you've made your choice. |
