Very complicated story this one...I think he was born in 1960 ish...in a convent or mother & baby home out of the hometown.
The entry for the 1960 Bailey in Barnsley is the one me and my other adopted Brother thinks maybe might be him...I know that birth entry is adopted I was told by the registrar in Barnsley...the MMN matches that of the birth mom's mother...the birth mom was 14 at the time so would her mom have to sign on her behalf?
oh yes, forgot to mention someone else gave me the Barnsley entry for Paul Bailey and I was told by the registrar that the mothers name was margaret bailey but that it gives no address info on the certificate, they also said that the entry was adopted and maybe the one i'm looking for...I think the others I checked ages ago and they didn't match...I know the Barnsley entry was the only sort of match.
But will keep the other info you have given me here ~ Thankyou.
Thanks for your replies folks!

Hi Star, you must have something which gives you the mother's surname, as you state mother 'is down as', where 'is it down?' what is that written on?.
does that not give you any indication as to where the event took place.

Hi Star,
Paul Bailey is a very common name. There is one entry in the BMD Index for a Paul Bailey with mother's maiden name also shown as Bailey for 1960 (June Quarter, At Derby, Volume 3a, page 380. But without more info there is no guarantee that this is the correct one.
