I'm running windows XP. I open first window, type in GR address then open my tree (actually I have it saved as one of my favourites). Along the top of the green bar, or in the address bar, it will give you the URL of your own specific tree. Make a note of this or copy and paste it. Open another window and paste the url of your own tree into the address bar and hit enter, it will open another view of your own tree. Then just select the tree you want to view from the drop down list. I've always been able to do it and it works fine every time. |

I used to work in IT Support. I'm surprised they didn't tell you to turn it off and turn it back on!!!! LOL ;-) |

In addition to Keith's way, you can right-click the "My Family Tree" button and take the option "Open in new window". Works for me. |

I'd be inclined to upload your gedcom to Tribal pages. That way you can have two webpages open at the same time and easily distinguish which tree is which. |

Well done Keith, aren't you clever!! That works - how did you know what to do or is somewhere on here that I haven't spotted. It will make life so much easier. Thanks again, |

I'm sure I had two trees open the other evening ... no idea how I did it though! I think I had several tabs going at the same time. |

If you open your GR tree. Press control and "n". It should open another window with your tree in it. Then just change it to the tree you want. |

Thanks Kath, that's a bit of a b****r then! I might contact support to see if they have any ideas 'cause I also don't have a printer out here. |

I'm really sorry Sue. It won't let you do it. I can have two Genes windows open and add to different threads but not open two trees. |

Won't let me do that unless I am doing something wrong!!! Could you try doing that for me and see if it works for you? Many thanks, Sue, x |

Do you have a computer that uses "windows". If so you can open a new internet window and open Genes again in a second window. Then you can have your tree open in one window and the other person's tree in another window. |

Is there a way that I can keep my own tree open and look at people's trees who have contacted me? I am present living in Spain so have no paperwork with me only what is on the computer and I do not seem to be able to keep my both trees open so that I can check names etc. Many thanks, |
