It was common practise in my mums family to purchase a grave When My maternal grandad died in 1939 my nan purchased a grave which was for 3 burials. apparently the smallest grave you could buy at that time. her thought s were she didnt want him buried in a paupers grave and she would be buried with him when the time came. also if any of their children died and the family couldnt afford another grave then they could be buried with Mum & Dad. |

If i hadn't started my research i won't have even known about the spare family plot. My great grandfather was a blacksmith. His job must have brought in some good money. |

My great grand father bought 2 graves in the 1900's and there is still a full plot left for family today. |

I have found out that my great grandparents' grave was purchased by my great grandmother's father. |
