CAn you tell me please, if people got married in a registry office in the 1800s, would I find it on freebmd, or familysearch?

Diane ,I have a couple married 1881 in a register office and they are on Freebmd.

Researching:
Furniss/Furness in Lancashire,Critchett in Devon and London, Keemish/Camish/ Kemish from Hampshire then Cambridge, Copper and Godden in Kent, Spink/Spynk in Norfolk and Cambridge

All marriages after 1837 should be registered with the GRO, so, providing the records have been transcribed, the info will be on freebmd.

what about pre-1837?
I don't even know when registry office marriages first started?!

I may be wrong, but I believe that the introduction of register offices coincided with the setting up of the general registration system.

I'm sure there will be details online if you google........

Not sure when registry office marriages started but think all marriages in early 1800s were in churches. You won't get a cert for pre1837 but you might find something in Parish records. Have you tried the IGI on the LDS site?
