I believe the NBI is due for an up-date in December-so leave it to the New Year!
Yes,the initial purchase is pricey but each time it is updated you send the CD back and it is done and returned for a small fee(cannot remember but something like £4.50)
The FFHS are dependent on the Family History Societies for the info and a lot of societies have their own Indexes which they sell they therefore do not let the FFHS include it.
Hampshire have a CD covering all of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight 1400-1837.
You can order it on-line from the Hampshire FS via their website-about £20.00 I think

Hello all

Can anyone advise me what coverage is like on this cd before I buy it.

I have contacted York Cemetry and they are going to charge me £21 to search and send me print outs of 6 surnames. If there is fairly good coverage of York Cemetry and Fulford Cemetry in York I might as well save my money and put it towards the cds.

Thanks

Dawn

I have a copy of the NBI Second Edition and the results are very variable. There are 13 million records. I would be happy to check some names for you if you send a pm. I have found some very useful information from it, but most of my relations are not included.

I would certainly try your library. My local library in Oakham has a copy which I have used and I'm glad I didn't buy it

Thanks Linda

I'll have to think about this a bit more - just checked the price and it's £45. It may need to wait for a month or two.

London city is not well covered. The outer London areas are covered under the counties they used to belong to before Greater London existed, so when asking for a look up, you need to know the county. Kent and Norfolk have middling coverage

Thanks, sounds as though both are not so good, it would be west sussex I was after.

Hi Michele

I've been thinking much the same - and the BIVRI.

My areas of interest are Kent, London and Norfolk.

Would be interested in the replies you get.

Hampshire has practically no coverage, Sussex is better, but it depends what area you are interested in.

I have been thinking of buying this but does anyone have any thoughts as to how good it is or are there some that are more recent than others? The areas I would be interested in are Sussex and Hampshire. Anyone any thoughts?
Many thanks
