well I know he was in the Navy in WW1 but occ. down as Iron moulder on his marriage cert. ! When did Franz Ferdinand get asassinated?, I thought it was later than March 1913 but eh have been known to be wrong many times lol |

Was he perhaps in the army? It was not long before World War One, so perhaps it was a quick marriage before he was sent off to war. |

What were their ages on the marriage certificate? If they were under 21 and didn't have parental consent, then it might be easier to tell a little white lie to the registrar, rather than the local vicar or priest who probably knew them if they were religious. |

It was more common than you would think to marry in a registry office. There have been registry office marriages since the start of registration in 1837. |

Have you tried phoning the present day register office and asking them? They must have some sort of records about where they used to be situated. |
