Peter does that mean if we do not enter a surname in the relevant box when entering on trying to find, that it may not be picked up by the search filter? When entering the surname here it doesn't appear to come up anywhere at the moment !

It appears that the filter by Surname box searches for Trying To find Thread which already exist with that name.

have done a test thread for you and I see what you mean about format, but have concluded that the Surname box appears not to work, so ignore this.

When you have clicked on Add Topic, enter the full name of who you are trying to find in the Thread Title box, and then in the larger content box give as many details as you have ie dob/marriage etc and then submit.

I try that. I am finding the format difficult.

Rowena, You do the same as you do to add a thread on any board, go to trying to find board click at top where it says add topic and add in usual way.

I don't know how the "Trying to Find" board works now we've got this new format site, but on the old site you had to have the name in your tree before you could add to the "Trying to Find" board. Maybe it's something like that.

Hope someone who knows more about it can help you.

The other day, I tried to put my Great Grandfather's oldest brother's wife surname on the Trying to Find and it did not come up as all.

Can anyone help?
