Lisa-Glad the info helped -you should really get both certs as each give differing info-It also depends on what other details you have and then cross check with census records to be sure Heather |

Why oh why can't this be easy? How many variations of a name can there be? I thought Sayce would be easy as it is unusual! Thanks for your help though it has given me a few options of variations that I had not thought of! |

Hi, I'm having little joy in tracing the history of my Gt Gt Grandfather Joseph Sayce, has anyone any ideas how I can find out any further details? We know from the 1901 census that he was 39 so born c1862 and he died 11/08/1935 he married Mary Brown who was born c1867 and died 26/12/1943 . From the census he was born in Ludlow, Shrops but by 1901 was living at 166 Commonside, Pensnett, B'Hill Staffordshire. Family legend suggests that his father left him in Pensnett when he was a youngster with his sister as the family was so poor then went back to Ludlow to enter the workhouse. We dont know who he was left with and so far cannnot find any details for him from BMD. If anyone has any suggestions as where to try next would be gratefully received!! |
