Member Since: October 2006 Posts: 267 Send Message	I have a family who split up. The family are living in Whitechapel in the 1871 census. James and Elizabeth Fossey (nee Chapman) They have been around this area since their births, marriages and births of children. After this Elizabeth and their children are in Kendal and Lancaster and the father is still in London. The father is next found in London as a witness to his mothers death in April 1878. His wife has died in Kendal 1877 along with one of her sons in 1878 aged 9. In Oct 1878 he is still in London and in court and in 1881 census he is in prison. Where he dies in 1882. Would anyone have ideas as to why the family would split. Thinking she may have applied for poor relief how would I find these records. Any ideas welcome Kaz x n

	I can't help with info about porr relief, but the reason for a marital break-up was probably much as it might be now........ Reg
