If he was lost at sea his death won't be on BMD I think they are kept at Kew. Also if at sea he may not appear on the census at all, I have one or two fishermen missing completely as they must have been out at sea on the census night. Germaine x

Member Since: March 2004 Posts: 0 Send Message	I'm trying to find a Peter Roney in Hull. He and his family are listed in the 1851 census, but he's missing in 1861 (though wife, Mary, is still listed as married), but by 1871 his wife is listed as 'widow'. I know he was a sailor during this period and I'm wondering if he would be listed seperately for Hull sailors in the 1861 census. I can't find any death registration anywhere either - would that be somewhere else if he died while on a ship out of Hull? Any help much appreciated - Many thanks, Stewart Roney.
