missing twin?

I need some help please... My great grandmother was born in 1895 in bolton. There is no father named on her birth cert. The family story is that her father was the son of the man that Sarah (her mother ) was a servant for. The interesting thing is that before she died she told us that she was a twin but I cant find any trace of a twin. How do I find out? I am wondering if its possible that the family of the father adopted the twin? If this is true then maybe the father will be named on that cert and I could trace the family...

Does anyone know if twins have the fact recorded on their birth cert?

This is what I know:
Elizabeth Tonks born 13th Jan 1895 to Sarah Tonks of 19 Velvet walks Great Bolton registered 18/2/95. Bolton was not Sarah's home town but she did settle there. I suspect that she had tonks relatives there but not yet proved it. If you can help I'd be really grateful
Thanks you
Nicola

Does the birth cert include the time of birth?

If not, it's unlikely that there was a twin.........

I've also heard that if a child was stillborn it wasn't registered.
