Anyone have any other suggestions re. tracing Navy record for a Michael Hayes (born Passage West, Co. Cork 1879). Received info. taken from commonwealth war graves site - Service No. 290877 - but NOT correct person. Details I have are that he was a Stoker in 1911 and Stoker Petty Officer on HMS Nymph in 1914. Deceased by 1927. Widow's name would be Jane. Assuming possibly died during war. |

There are WW1 naval records on the documentsonline site. They are downloadable, but there are several men with the same name, born in Cork, although not the place you mention. |

Sorry, Margaret but why is he not the person we found for you the other day? Are you suggesting a sailor would never transfer to another ship? My father served on 3 ships during WW2. |

That's what she's saying Joan, but if Margaret will forgive me, I think she's been hasty in dismissing it! ( I think we should disregard all connections to HMS Psyche though!) |
